Memorial Walkway

In 2017 a large donation from Don and Leatrice Mathison allowed Beaver Creek Reserve to make substantial improvements to our campus. Thanks to this generous donation Beaver Creek Reserve’s electricity needs are now all produced by solar energy, we have installed a brand new parking lot and paved walkway to the north campus, and we upgraded our website and software programs to increase staff efficiency.

With the parking lot expansion came the opportunity to re-landscape the front of the Wise Nature Center. To honor their life and legacy, the Don and Leatrice Mathison Memorial Walkway was added to connect the Nature Center with the North Campus, and is now ADA compliant. In our previous campaigns, over 100 families have honored loved ones with 131 bricks along the Memorial Walkway.

The deadline to order a brick for 2023 has passed. The next opportunity to purchase a brick in memory or honor of a loved one, or to recognize special occasions like a birthday, anniversary, or other milestone will not be until 2025.

If you are interested in participating in future Memorial Walkway orders, keep an eye on our website for further details. If you have questions about ordering a brick or need any assistance, feel free to call us at 715-877-2212 or email our Database Coordinator, Julie Felske, at julie@beavercreekreserve.org.

Any proceeds from the purchase of the engraved stones will be used to improve and maintain surrounding gardens, purchase additional picnic tables, and to fund areas that help us achieve our mission of connecting people with nature.
