Fondly referred to as "George's Light Bucket" by members of the CVAS "Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society", this Altitude-Azimuth telescope has a 24 inch diameter mirror with a focal ratio of five or known as an f/5. The focal length is 120 inches or 3048 mm. Consequently it is better used for deep sky objects than views of the solar system.
The telescope is controlled by two computers, one which drives the scope and another which allows the user to pick which objects in the sky to observe. The computers and the scope are the property of the UWEC "University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire" which maintains the scopes and assorted equipment. Also included is a Star 1 CCD camera operated by a separate computer. A field derotator is available for long exposure images. All of the above can be seen in the control room.
